QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Everything donors ask us

The short version: gifts are never spent, only returns fund care, recipients are chosen at random, and one hundred percent of your donation goes to the endowment. The details are below.

What happens to my donation?

It becomes a permanent part of the endowment. Your gift buys a lasting share of the fund at its value on the day it arrives, and that principal is never spent. The endowment is invested, and each year a portion of the investment returns, never the gifts themselves, is delivered to pay medical costs for patients in need.

How are recipients chosen?

At complete random, from patients facing medical costs, regardless of wealth, income, or background. No one has to prove hardship, and anyone can be selected. That impartiality is the point: every donor holds a genuine stake in a system that could one day stand behind any patient, including them.

How much of my gift goes to overhead?

None. Our founder personally covers all operating expenses, and our card processing is zero-fee, so one hundred percent of every donation strengthens the endowment.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. The Tanjeloff Impact Corp. is a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 33-3985377, and no goods or services are provided in exchange for contributions. You receive an IRS-compliant receipt for every gift, and it is worth keeping for your records.

Can I give monthly?

Yes. The card giving form offers both one-time and monthly gifts, and every monthly charge is recorded to your account automatically, fee-free.

Can I give by wire, check, stock, or property?

Yes. Wire instructions are on the Give page, and gifts of stock or property are welcomed and credited at their net proceeds, with receipts that follow IRS rules for non-cash gifts. Email Support@thetanjeloffimpact.org and we will walk you through it.

Can I give in someone else's name?

Yes. The giving form asks whether your gift is in someone else's name. If it is, the gift is credited to them, they receive a note that a gift was made in their honor, and it appears in their account, or waits for them if they have not made one yet.

What happens if markets go down?

The endowment stays invested and no principal is ever sold to fund deliveries. A high-water-mark rule means care is funded only from gains above the fund's previous peak, so a down year pauses deliveries rather than shrinking the endowment. When markets recover, deliveries resume.

When is care actually funded?

Once a year, at year's end, from that year's investment returns. Year one is for growing; our first annual delivery arrives at the end of our founding year, and every year after that the endowment delivers again, forever.

How do I see what my giving has done?

Create a free donor account and your dashboard shows every gift, your share of the endowment, how it has grown, and what your giving has delivered to care. Community totals are public on our homepage.

Who runs The Tanjeloff Impact Corp.?

The organization was founded by Nicholas J. Tanjeloff, who personally covers its operating costs, and it is overseen by its Board of Directors, which reviews investment posture and approves each annual delivery.
